Swayspace Folder

http://www.underconsideration.com/fpo/archives/2012/07/swayspace-letterpress-kit.

Kelly Cree - Swayspace folder design
In researching for the folder package thing I found this which is very sylish and very pop-art-....y.
It wouldn't work for the Osaka business thing but I like the logo and the colors are really nice and it looks very profesional.

The Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo logo - Carrie Madigan - New York, NY

This logo design caught my eye. The colors are earth tones which goes with the feel of animals and wildlife- or animals bred in captivity. The negative space in the giraffes' legs creates the skyline of New York.  It is a fun desugn that conveys the fun and excitement of going to the zoo.

Think With Your Heart (OR Face-palm through your skull)

Someone on my Facebook posted this. I nearly face-palmed so hard I it almost stopped my heart.  But then I started thinking with my brain- the organ in my body that actually does any thinking and started analyzing this design. The typography is bold and boring- looks like whoever designed this did not think at all. And if he or she did so with their heart it doesn't seem to work much better.  The designer was trying so hard to be clever but the concept is so dumb.  Looks like they just grabbed some random anatomy illustration of a head and shoulders- if you're going to convey someone thinking at least show them being thoughtful. The model in this drawing looks asleep or dead since it's probably a cadaver. The heart looks like a real heart with viens and arteries. The metaphorical heart that they are talking about is really the emotional 'try-toi-do the right thing kind of idea. Like every fantasy hero has to look inot his heart for the answer or the courage to slay the dragon or rescue the princess.

If I were designing this I would emphasize the emotional aspect instead of mismatched science because if you are going to mix bad science with stupid new agey heart chakra woowoo you're going to have a bad time.

Creative Visual Merchandising

http://www.behance.net/gallery/Creation-Visual-Merchandising-2013-Branding/7144219

This is a great example of brand identity.  Creation Visual Merchandising brand was created by Cindy Forster of Sydney Austratlia. The logo is simple but effective which a black background and white letters. The font is very stylisze with varying line weight which catches the eye and almost makes a visual optical illusion. The letters almost form a corkscrew.

Below is an assortment of designs which incorporate the brand logo, including letterhead, envelope, notebook. CD, and various stationary items. The use of the logo for the envelope is very neat.

Here the logo is used for a business card which carries the simple but striking logo and provides necessary contact information.

And on wine bottles.
